Tift County was founded in 1905. Tift was created by taking area from Berrien, Irwin and Worth Counties. From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Tift had a population of 40,653 people. This is an increase of 1.33% since the last Census (which gave a population of 40,118 people in 2010). At the time of the 2010 Census, Tift represented 0.41% of the total population of Georgia.
