Spalding County was founded in 1851. Spalding was created by taking area from Fayette, and Pike Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Spalding had a population of 66,835 people. This is an increase of 4.31% since the last Census (which gave a population of 64,073 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Spalding represented 0.66% of the total population of Georgia.
