At the time of the 2010 Census, Daytona Beach had a population of 61,005 people (or 12.33% of the total population of Volusia County). This makes Daytona Beach the county's 2nd most populous community.

The population of Daytona Beach represents 0.32% of the total population of Florida (which has 18,801,310 people), making it the state's 36th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 61,005 people, the population of Daytona Beach decreased 4.85% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 64,112 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Daytona Beach was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<8>

From that list, the Daytona Beach post office opened in 1905.

We also found Daytona Beach mentioned on a train schedule titled Greyhound Bus Time Table (November 1931).
