The community of Clearwater is the Seat for Pinellas County.

Pinellas County was founded May 23, 1911 and was created by taking area from Hillsborough County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Pinellas had a population of 975,367 people. This is an increase of 6.42% since the last Census (which gave a population of 916,542 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Pinellas represented 4.87% of the total population of Florida.
