Pasco County was founded June 2, 1887 and was created by taking area from Hernando County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Pasco had a population of 554,032 people. This is an increase of 19.22% since the last Census (which gave a population of 464,697 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Pasco represented 2.47% of the total population of Florida.
