The community of Tallahassee is the Seat for Leon County. Tallahassee is also the capital of Florida.

Leon County was founded December 29, 1824 and was created by taking area from Gadsden County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Leon had a population of 293,866 people. This is an increase of 6.67% since the last Census (which gave a population of 275,487 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Leon represented 1.47% of the total population of Florida.
