The community of Panama City is the Seat for Bay County.

Bay County was founded April 24, 1913. Bay was created by taking area from Calhoun and Washington Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Bay had a population of 173,895 people. This is an increase of 2.99% since the last Census (which gave a population of 168,852 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Bay represented 0.9% of the total population of Florida.
