While we don't have a date for the founding of Newtown, you might get a feel for it by knowing that during our research the earliest mention that we found (so far) was in a book dated 1895.

At the time of the 2010 Census, the Town of Newtown had a population of 27,560 people. This makes Newtown the county's 15th most populous community.

The population of Newtown represents 0.77% of the total population of Connecticut (which has 3,574,097 people), making it the state's 57th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 27,560 people, the population of Newtown increased 10.1% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 25,031 people).
