Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, New Castle had an population of 4,984 people. This is an increase of 10.31% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 151.21% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, New Castle had a population of 4,518 people (which is 8.01% of the total population of Garfield County). This makes New Castle the county's 4th most populous community.

The population of New Castle represents 0.09% of the population of Colorado (which has 5,029,196 people), making it the state's 78th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 4,518 people, the population of New Castle increased 127.72% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 1,984 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for New Castle was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the New Castle post office opened in 1888.
