While we don't have a date for the founding of Campo, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1913.

The town was incorporated March 6, 1950.

The origin (or the toponymy) of Campo: Spanish for 'field'.

Campo is 4,340 feet [1,323 m] above sea level.<3> In other words, the altitude of Campo is about ¾ mile [or ~1¼ km] above sea level.

We originally found mention of Campo in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Campo was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Campo post office opened in 1913.

We also found Campo on a map titled Rand McNally Map of Colorado (1947).
