At the time of the 2010 Census, Santa Ana had a population of 324,528 people (or 10.78% of the total population of Orange County). This makes Santa Ana the county's 2nd most populous community.

The population of Santa Ana represents 0.87% of the total population of California (which has 37,253,956 people), making it the state's 11th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 324,528 people, the population of Santa Ana decreased 3.98% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 337,977 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Santa Ana was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<8>

From that list, the Santa Ana post office opened in 1870.
