At the time of the 2010 Census, Hanford had a population of 53,967 people (or 35.28% of the total population of Kings County). This makes Hanford the county's most populous community.

The population of Hanford represents 0.14% of the total population of California (which has 37,253,956 people), making it the state's 156th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 53,967 people, the population of Hanford increased 29.46% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 41,686 people).
