Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Escondido had an population of 150,394 people. This is an increase of 4.5% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 12.6% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Escondido had a population of 143,911 people. This makes Escondido the county's 4th most populous community.

The population of Escondido represents 0.39% of the total population of California (which has 37,253,956 people), making it the state's 38th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 143,911 people, the population of Escondido increased 7.75% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 133,559 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Escondido was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<9>

From that list, the Escondido post office opened in 1884.
