Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Carlsbad had an population of 114,317 people. This is an increase of 8.53% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 46.1% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Carlsbad had a population of 105,328 people. This makes Carlsbad the county's 5th most populous community.

The population of Carlsbad represents 0.28% of the total population of California (which has 37,253,956 people), making it the state's 59th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 105,328 people, the population of Carlsbad increased 34.61% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 78,247 people).
