The origin (or the toponymy) of Williams: Named for William Sherley Williams (1787-1849), best known as "Old Bill Williams" - trapper, scout and mountain man. He also served with the Mississippi Mounted Rangers during the War of 1812. From the Census Estimates for 2019, Williams has a population of 3,263 people<2> (see below for details).
