At the time of the 2010 Census, Scottsdale had a population of 217,385 people (which is 5.7% of the total population of Maricopa County). This makes Scottsdale the county's 5th most populous community.

The population of Scottsdale represents 3.4% of the total population of Arizona (which has 6,392,017 people), making it the state's 6th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 217,385 people, the population of Scottsdale increased 7.24% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 202,705 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Scottsdale was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Scottsdale post office opened in 1897.
