At the time of the 2010 Census, Avondale had a population of 76,238 people. This makes Avondale the county's 10th most populous community.

The population of Avondale represents 1.19% of the total population of Arizona (which has 6,392,017 people), making it the state's 12th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 76,238 people, the population of Avondale increased 112.46% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 35,883 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Avondale was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Avondale post office opened in 1911.
