At the time of the 2010 Census, Rison had a population of 1,344 people (which is 15.47% of the total population of Cleveland County). This makes Rison the county's most populous community.

We originally found mention of Rison in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Rison was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Rison post office opened in 1883.

We also found Rison in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
