Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Hot Springs had an population of 38,802 people. This is an increase of 10.25% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 8.54% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Hot Springs had a population of 35,193 people (or 36.65% of the total population of Garland County). This makes Hot Springs the county's most populous community.

The population of Hot Springs represents 1.21% of the total population of Arkansas (which has 2,915,918 people), making it the state's 11th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 35,193 people, the population of Hot Springs decreased 1.56% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 35,750 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Hot Springs was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Hot Springs post office opened in 1831.
