The community of Wynne is the Seat for Cross County.

Cross County was founded in 1862. Cross was created by taking area from Saint Francis, Poinsett and  Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Cross had a population of 16,333 people. This is a decrease of 8.6% since the last Census (which gave a population of 17,870 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Cross represented 0.61% of the total population of Arkansas.
