The town of Waldo is located in Talladega County<1>.


The location of Waldo has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<2>


While we don't have a date for the founding of Waldo, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1870.

From the  Census Estimates for 2019, Waldo has a population of 273 people<3> (see below for details).

Waldo is 750 feet [229 m] above sea level.<4>.

Time Zone: Waldo lies in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time

Note: If you travel east from Waldo (for example, toward Ephesus (GA)), you will leave Central Time and cross into the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT).

Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Waldo had an population of 273 people. This is a decrease of 3.53% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 2.85% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Waldo had a population of 283 people. This makes Waldo the county's 7th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 283 people, the population of Waldo has remained roughly the same as the 2000 Census (with a count of 281 people).

We originally found mention of Waldo in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Waldo was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Waldo post office opened in 1870.

We also found Waldo in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
