At the time of the 2010 Census, Southside had a population of 8,412 people (which is 7.09% of the total population of Calhoun County). This makes Southside the county's 3rd most populous community.

The population of Southside represents 0.18% of the population of Alabama (which has 4,779,736 people), making it the state's 73rd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 8,412 people, the population of Southside increased 19.56% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 7,036 people).
