The Town of Essex is located in Chittenden County. Time Zone: Essex lies in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight savings time. At the time of the 2000 Census, the Town of Essex had a population of 18,626 people. This represented 3.05% of the total population of Vermont, making it the state's 2nd most populous community.
