The city of Las Vegas is located in Clark County and is the county seat. Time Zone: Las Vegas lies in the Pacific Time Zone (PST/PDT) and observes daylight savings time. At the time of the 2000 Census, Las Vegas had a population of 478,434 people. This represented 23.7% of the total population of Nevada, making it the state's most populous community. From the Census estimates<1> for 2007, Las Vegas had a population of 558,880 people. This is an increase of 16.81% since the 2000 Census.
